When your employees walk into the office each day, they give their all, so you’d like to show your appreciation. Here are a few ideas to make them feel special. ### **Acknowledge Small Efforts** Grand gestures are nice, but it doesn’t take a lot of time or money to let employees know they’re valued. A simple ‘thank you’ goes a long way, so use these two little words often. When someone goes the extra mile on a project, stop by their work area or send an email to commend their efforts. If you’re impressed with a team endeavor, gather everyone together for a quick meeting and say a few words of appreciation. ### **Put Treats in the Breakroom** Gratitude from the boss is always welcome, especially when it comes in the form of food. Periodically treat your team to donuts or bagels in the morning or pizza for lunch to show how much their contributions are valued. ### **Give Early Dismissals Before Holidays** Hardworking employees don’t expect to leave before quitting time, so surprise your team by letting them out an hour or two early before holidays. This shows respect for their personal time and allows them to get a jumpstart on their holiday plans. ### **Celebrate Their Anniversaries** Show employees how grateful you are to have them on the team by recognizing their anniversary with your company each year. Send an email in honor of their special day and, if you have the budget, include a small gift card to make the celebration extra sweet. ### **Start an Employee of the Month Program** If you haven’t already done so, institute an employee-of-the-month program to recognize the efforts of one outstanding individual. Put their name on a plaque and give them a special reward, such as a prime parking spot all month or lunch at a nice restaurant.
